Why Sustainable Lawn Care is the Future

The world is moving towards clean energy. And we’re glad to be part of spearheading this change! Our planet will eventually run out of fossil fuels like crude oil and coal. These two fossil fuels make up most of the world’s energy usage.

Switching to clean energy is not only a matter of resources; it’s the right thing to do. That’s why we’re doing it! And we’re not the only one. In this article, we’re going to examine why sustainable lawn care is the future. Let’s start with how we’re making our mark in Gainesville, Florida.

Gainesville, Florida and the Sierra Club

The Sierra Club—a nonprofit organization dedicated to clean energy—calls on cities across the U.S. to make a switch to renewable energy. They write, “Across the U.S. over 90 cities, more than ten counties and two states, have already adopted ambitious 100% clean energy goals. Six cities in the U.S.–Aspen, Burlington, Georgetown, Greensburg, Rock port, and Kodiak Island–have already hit their targets. These six cities now generate 100% of the energy used community-wide from clean, non-polluting and renewable sources. “

These goals are ambitious indeed; however, these six cities aren’t the only ones dedicated to sustainable energy. Gainesville, Florida makes the list. As a matter of fact, Gainesville comes in at #35 of cities committed to renewable energy. The Sierra Club continues, “Gainesville, FL is committed to 100% clean, renewable electricity and net zero greenhouse gas emissions community-wide by 2045.”

You can bet that our environmental goals are aligned with those of the Sierra Club. After all, our lawn care services are all-electric and sustainable! Each time we work on a lawn, we’re moving Gainesville toward a sustainable future. And that makes us proud of what we do!

What Sustainable Means

Sustainable lawn care means no emissions. It means inhabitants of homes are kept healthy because of the lack of these emissions. Sustainable lawn care is everything from best management practices to using the least damaging equipment and materials to get the job done. These could be from keeping blades sharp, to using electric equipment as both reduce the need for waste.

Sustainable lawn care is great for people with asthma, hypersensitivity, and other health issues. This is because sustainable lawn care is clean. Gasoline spills never happen. You’ll never have to worry about inhaling fumes or other harmful chemicals when we work on your lawn!

The EPA and Sustainability

According to the Environment Protection Agency, lawn mowers make up 40% of gas-powered lawn care equipment in the U.S. Edgers come in a distant second place, accounting for 18% of gas-powered lawn care equipment items. These two pieces of equipment—lawn mowers and edgers—account for over half of all lawn maintenance.

Here’s what this means: Making lawn mowers and edgers run on clean energy will significantly improve the standing of sustainable lawn care.

Sustainable Lawn Care is the Future

We’re already using sustainable resources for our lawn care services; therefore, we consider Sun Power Lawn Care to be the future of lawn maintenance.
